Geoengineering Proposal Contest at Climate CoLab

Geoengineering Proposal Contest at Climate CoLab

How can research into geoengineering be governed to limit its environmental and political risks?

Assuming geoengineering research is going to be pursued, how can it be governed or regulated to limit its environmental and political risks, and to contribute to effective overall management of climate change and its impacts? Lack of effective political action on climate change has led some scientists, chemists and engineers to investigate technical and technological options to counter the effects of increasing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. These strategies are collectively known as geoengineering or geoengineering methods, and could result in far-reaching global and regional impacts. This contest seeks proposals on how to progress research on geoengineering in an ethically and environmentally responsible manner. Click here for contest details
